Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of miinari (the “Service”), operated by Miinari (“miinari,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the Service. Please also read our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle personal information.

1. Description of the Service

miinari is a community platform where exchange students in Korea can browse, post, comment, and vote on practical topics such as housing, travel, campus life, and daily life questions. Some features are available without an account; others, such as posting under a persistent profile, require you to sign up.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 14 years old to use the Service. By using the Service, you represent that you meet this requirement and that you have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms.

3. Accounts

You can browse most of the Service without an account. Creating an account lets you build a profile, post under a consistent identity, and manage your content across sessions. You’re responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide, for keeping your login credentials confidential, and for all activity that happens under your account. Let us know right away through the Contact Us page if you believe your account has been compromised.

If you delete your account, we permanently remove your profile and the content tied to it, as described in our Privacy Policy. To prevent abuse, you cannot create a new account using the same email address or a linked Google account for 14 days after deletion.

4. Anonymous Posting and Delete Codes

You may post or reply anonymously without linking the content to your public profile. Anonymous posts and replies use a delete code you set yourself, which lets you remove that content later from any device without signing in. Keep your delete code somewhere safe — we store it only as an irreversible cryptographic hash and cannot recover or reset it for you. Posting anonymously changes how your content is displayed to other users; it does not exempt you from these Terms, and we may still take action on anonymous content that violates them.

5. Your Content

You retain ownership of the posts, comments, images, and other content you submit to the Service (“User Content”). By submitting User Content, you grant miinari a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, display, and distribute that content as necessary to operate, promote, and improve the Service, for as long as the content remains on the Service.

You’re solely responsible for your User Content and for making sure you have the rights to post it. Once you submit content publicly, other users may see, copy, or reshare it, and we cannot guarantee its removal from copies made outside the Service (for example, a screenshot).

6. Acceptable Use

When using the Service, you agree not to:

• Post content that is unlawful, harassing, defamatory, hateful, sexually explicit, or that threatens or promotes violence against any person or group;
• Impersonate another person, or misrepresent your affiliation with any person or organization;
• Post someone else’s personal information (such as a phone number, ARC/passport number, or precise address) without their consent;
• Upload content that infringes another party’s intellectual property or other rights;
• Use the Service to send spam, run scams, or manipulate votes, polls, or rankings;
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to another account, our systems, or data you’re not authorized to access, including by guessing or brute-forcing a delete code;
• Use automated tools to scrape, collect, or access the Service in a way that places unreasonable load on it or violates these Terms;
• Upload malicious code or otherwise interfere with the normal operation of the Service.

7. Content Moderation

We may review, hide, or remove content, and suspend or terminate accounts, that we reasonably believe violate these Terms, our other policies, or applicable law, without prior notice. We may also act on reports submitted by other users. We don’t pre-screen all content and are not responsible for User Content posted by others, but we may take action once we become aware of a violation.

8. Advertising

The Service may display advertising, including through Google AdSense. Advertisements are provided by third parties, and we are not responsible for their content. See our Privacy Policy for information about advertising-related data practices.

9. Third-Party Services and Links

The Service integrates with third-party services, including Google Sign-In, and may contain links to external websites. We don’t control and are not responsible for the content, policies, or practices of third-party services or sites. Your use of them is subject to their own terms.

10. Intellectual Property

The miinari name, logo, and the Service itself (excluding User Content) are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. Nothing in these Terms grants you a right to use our branding except as necessary to use the Service as intended.

11. Termination

You may stop using the Service, or delete your account, at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service, with or without notice, if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms, created risk or legal exposure for us, or if we discontinue the Service. Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination — including Sections 5, 10, 12, 13, 14, and 15 — will survive.

12. Disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free, or that content posted by other users is accurate, complete, or reliable. Information shared on miinari, including by other users, is not professional legal, immigration, medical, or financial advice.

13. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, miinari and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses, arising out of or related to your use of the Service, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

14. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold miinari and its operators harmless from any claims, damages, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your use of the Service, your User Content, or your violation of these Terms.

15. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising out of or related to these Terms or the Service will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts of the Republic of Korea, unless applicable law requires otherwise.

16. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes to the Service or applicable law. We will post the updated Terms on this page with a new effective date, and where a change is material, we will provide additional notice. Your continued use of the Service after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms.
